The Westbrook Historical Society is home to books, articles, photographs, and other reference materials documenting various aspects of the town’s history. Visitors in search of information about people or places from Westbrook’s past will find a willing volunteer to help answer questions on a specific topic – from the old trolley station, to Toby of Toby Hill, Westbrook’s Stannard family, Salt Island, cranberry bogs, and many more.
Researchers and readers alike will also find an impressive collection of over fifty books by local authors. And thanks to former local resident photographer and businessman, William Neidlinger, a vast collection of photos also captures the town’s past. The genealogy collection of founding fathers and prominent families of Westbrook continues to expand, and the digitization of WHS written collections progresses with the acquisition of a new CZAR scanner and the work of our dedicated volunteers.
